The Challenge

Established in 2018, Hudson Homes was launched as a new business entity under its parent company, Hudson Advisors. As this was initially more of an exploratory venture, the Hudson Advisors team was hesitant to invest in significant on-prem, in-house IT infrastructure and costs.

At the time of Hudson Advisors’ engagement of Buchanan for the new business startup, the office was opened for 40 employees in one large space as a stand-alone simple operation that was completely cloud-based.

However, the Hudson Homes business unit became very successful and quickly grew to over 200 employees in three separate offices over the course of 14 months. As growth continued to occur during the COVID-19 pandemic, some process changes were required to allow for the provisioning and deployment of equipment to new employees as well as remote onboarding.

“To support this growth, we wanted to engage with a vendor partner well-versed in cloud solutions and capable of providing comprehensive IT services, from engineering to security to end user support and beyond,” said Luis Gonzalez, Vice President of Service Delivery for Hudson Advisors.

The Solution

Buchanan’s solution includes all network and security management for the organization as well as end user provisioning, deskside support, and license acquisition and management for all Microsoft applications. Additionally, Hudson Homes utilizes a helpdesk run by Buchanan to aid with IT support for their end users and have also leveraged Buchanan’s project management office for two stand-alone projects – intranet hosting via SharePoint and a file share solution. 

With all these different technologies at play, a full-time Service Delivery Manager oversees all operational needs for Hudson Homes, including monthly reporting and escalating support issues when necessary to ensure uninterrupted service. Apart from Hudson Homes’ day-to-day business support, Hudson Advisors also engage Buchanan for remote dispatch needs in Europe as well as some US cities, primarily to handle equipment setup and connections that cannot be supported remotely.

The Results

Buchanan’s solution was able to give the organization the ‘turn-key’ approach they were looking for along with a dedicated project team to launch and then sustain the effort.

“The complete management of all IT services for Hudson Homes has been outstanding and works even better than we anticipated as the solution ultimately became a lights-out operation for us with minimal escalation from Buchanan,” said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez and his team find the remote dispatch service to be extremely helpful, especially the option of immediate dispatches if needed. The monthly reporting that has been developed also provides excellent metrics and continued validation of the work being done.
